WordReference.com

There are a few websites I use all the time for looking things up, and one of the ones I use most often is WordReference.com. I’m regularly astonished by the weird, obscure and wonderful things I can find there.

Today it was the French word sapristi, which doesn’t even really exist any more in the modern language. It’s being used in supermarkets at the moment to advertise something to do with Tintin. I didn’t really expect to find it, but sapristi ! There it is.

The great folk over there only ask that you publicise their site, which I’m very happy to do. So here’s a link to the best online French-English dictionary.
